I started my real estate career at sixty, joining a small boutique firm in the heart of Chicago. It was a bold move at the time, diving into a new industry and stepping outside my comfort zone. With a background in project management, where I worked behind the scenes in Information Technology for forty years, entering sales and relationship-building was foreign to me, yet I was determined to make it work.
To succeed, I got my broker’s license, followed by my managing broker’s license. I earned multiple certifications to better serve my clients, from buyer and seller expertise to global and senior client specialties. Along the way, I also developed a love for real estate and an understanding of the intricacies of residential development. I was involved in a company that built single-family homes, and actively participating in my husband’s real estate business. Mostly I loved helping my clients fulfill their dreams.
Over my career, I was involved in transactions totaling millions. I helped develop a training program, build a team, and establish relationships with attorneys, inspectors, and lenders. I served as local and state Women’s Council of Realtors president. I love being part of the real estate community. I’m proud of what I accomplished. This path was anything but traditional for me—it required stepping out of a comfortable role and learning a new way of doing business.
When I was an IT project manager, our CEO drove home the importance of customer service. Even though our customers were internal and did not generate revenue, that perspective was a foundation for building my real estate career.
Now, I’ve switched gears again. I combine my expertise and customer service experience with my real estate knowledge, strategic planning, project management, entrepreneurship, and passion for writing to help real estate professionals like you create new income streams and elevate their business profiles.
